Orono, Maine -- The New England Football Writers Association announced that
Christian Thomas and
Scott Woods of the University of Maine football program were named to the All-New England Team.
Thomas, a member of the CAA All-Conference First Team, led the Black Bears with 120 tackles, which were the 11
th in a single season in program history and the second-most in all of the CAA. He also led the team with 12 tackles for loss, resulting in 60 yards lost, along with ranking second on the team in sacks with five. He forced a fumble, recovered a fumble and had three pass breakups on the season. He was one of four linebackers selected to the All-New England Team.
Woods, a member of the CAAÂ All-Conference Second Team as a punt returner, averaged 24.9 yards per punt return as he returned 11 punts for 274 yards. His biggest of the season came against Elon when he had an 85-yard return, the first punt return touchdown by a Black Bears since 2017. Woods is the only punt returner named to the All-New England Team.
