PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team skated to a 1-1 tie with Providence College on Saturday at Schneider Arena. Providence earned the extra conference point after winning the shootout.
Maine dominated the first period as they outshot the Friars 11 to 4 yet the first period went scoreless. Just over thirty seconds into the second period, Providence took the lead as they scored a powerplay-goal. The Black Bears responded during the next shift when
Frederikke Foss evened up the score. Foss' second goal of the weekend was assisted by linemates
Ali Altiman and
Danielle Brunette.
The third period and overtime period also went scoreless as the game ended in a tie.

- Maine outshot the Friars 33 to 26.
- Kiia Lahtinen held a .957 save percentage in tonight's tie.
- Lulu Rucinski led the team in shots on goal with eight.
- Maine is now 0-1-1 in Hockey East conference play.
- The Black Bears were 0-for-5 on the powerplay and 0-for-1 on the penalty kill.Â
