ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine women's soccer team earned 2-1 win over New Hampshire in a Buffalo Wild Wings Border Battle on Thursday night at the New Balance Soccer Complex.

With the win, Maine earned a home quarterfinal in the America East Championship on Sunday, Nov. 2 – with the Black Bears hosting the Wildcats at 12 p.m. at the New Balance Soccer Complex.

Maine took a 1-0 lead in the 34th minute after a UNH defender deflected Britta Deny's centering ball into the net. The Wildcats came out firing to start the second half but it would be the Black Bears that scored first. After

Luise Reinwald cleaned up the rebound for her first goal of the season. UNH would get a goal back on a penalty kick conversion in the 74th minute but the Maine defense held on over the final 16 minutes for the 2-1 win.

- Maine had the 16-15 lead in shots … UNH had the 7-5 lead in shots on goal.
- Corner kicks were even at five each.
- Elena Barenberg made six saves in moving to 3-4-2 on the year.
- Maine is now 19-19-4 in the all-time series with New Hampshire.
- Luise Reinwald scored her first goal of the season and third of her career … it was her second career game-winning goal.
- Julie Lossius had a game-high five shots, with two landing on target.
