Baltimore, MD – The University of Maine men's basketball team never trailed in their matchup against UMBC on Saturday afternoon as they picked up the win, 87-62.

The Black Bears opened up the game on a 14-0 run, lead in part by
AJ Lopez's six early points.

Maine got their lead up to 18 on two-separate occasions, one being the halftime score as the Black Bears led 45-27 at the break.

Lopez led all scorers in the first half as he had 11 points on 4-for-8 shooting from the field.

Kellen Tynes had 7 points, 4 assists, 2 steals and a block while
Quion Burns had a game-high 5 rebounds, 9 points and 3 steals.

Eight different Black Bears scored at least two points in the opening half.

Maine built their lead out to a game-high 28 points with 4:12 remaining in the game before ultimately winning the game at a final score of 87-62.

Lopez tied his career-high with 24 points on 10-for-14 shooting from the field.

Burns recorded his second double-double of the season as he had 19 points and 11 rebounds. He also had 4 steals and 3 assists.

Maine never trailed in the contest as they picked up their fourth America East victory of the season. The 25-point margin of victory was the largest road conference victory under Coach Markwood and the second-largest in any America East game under Coach Markwood (35 – vs UMBC 2023)
