UMaine announces Family & Friends, Homecoming Weekend Dates

ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine and UMaine Athletics have announced its 2025 dates for Family & Friends and Homecoming weekends. The Black Bears will hold their annual Family & Friends weekend Sept. 26-28 with Homecoming weekend, presented by Bangor Savings Bank, in Orono set for Oct. 24-26.
"Autumn at UMaine is one of the most beautiful and exciting times to visit campus," said Joan Ferrini-Mundy, president of the University of Maine and its regional campus, the University of Maine at Machias. "The presence of students, family members, alumni and friends produces a joyful energy that adds extra excitement to the many events and performances taking place on those weekends. Along with May commencement ceremonies, it's my favorite time to be a Black Bear."
Maine Football will host home events during both weekends, with the Black Bears set to take on North Carolina A&T on Saturday, Sept. 27 followed by the Homecoming game on Saturday, Oct. 25 when the Black Bears host Elon. Game times for the two football games will be announced at a later date along with other fall sporting events once schedules become public.
Family and Friends weekend is an annual event that brings thousands of family members to the University of Maine to reconnect with their Black Bears. This event is for families of all sizes, dynamics, and class years. It is the University's time to celebrate the fall season in New England, honor our traditions, and enjoy the company of students and their families, faculty and staff, alumni, and members of the extended Black Bear community.

"No matter how much time has passed since your last visit to Orono, you remain an integral part of our family. UMaine Homecoming, the University of Maine's largest and most activity-filled event of the year, will kickoff on Friday, Oct. 24. The three-day gathering features a wide variety of formal and informal social, recreational and educational activities. They include class reunions, tailgating, campus tours, concerts, lectures, presentations and sporting events.
