#7 Black Bears earn Hockey East road win at #8 UMass Lowell

Harrison Scott scored two goals while Thomas Freel had two assists for multi-point nights.

LOWELL, Mass. – The #7 University of Maine men's hockey team earned a 3-1 win at #8 UMass Lowell on Friday night at the Tsongas Center.

After UMass Lowell took a 1-0 lead 90 seconds into the middle frame, David Breazeale responded with his third of the season for a tie game at the second intermission.

Harrison Scott then scored two goals over the final nine minutes of the game. Scott potted an even-strength goal at the 11:18 mark and then iced the game with an empty-netter with less than two minutes to play.

  • Both teams recorded 27 shots on goal.
  • Maine didn't have a power-play chance while keeping the River Hawks to 0-for-2.
