The University of Southern Maine Baseball Program will be Joining the Black Bears for the Glove Drive
Orono, Maine – The University of Maine baseball program has announced that the second annual "Goody's Gloves" glove drive will take place from Oct. 1- Oct. 31. The drive will be accepting donations of new or slightly worn baseball gloves and monetary donations that will be used to purchase baseball gloves for families in the local communities throughout Maine.
In its inaugural year in 2023, "Goody's Gloves" raised north of $6,000, which was used to purchase over 100 gloves, which were equally split and gifted to the Orono and Old Town Little League Communities.
Beginning on Sept. 3 and running until Sept. 25, the Maine Baseball program will be accepting email nominations from community members, little league representatives and coaches as they begin searching for the communities in the State of Maine that would benefit the most from "Goody's Gloves." On Oct. 1, the finalists will be named on Maine Baseball social media for a community wide vote on which little league communities will be the recipients of the 2024 "Goody's Gloves" drive. The winning communities will be announced on Oct. 15. All emails should be sent to Nick Derba at: nicholas.derba@maine.edu
Â
If you are interested and/or able to support, there will be a donation box set up in the Clubhouse at Mahaney Diamond and a donation box at the Costello Sports Complex at the University of Southern Maine Campus in Gorham. Anyone can donate a new or slightly worn glove, or leave a financial donation to help support "Goody's Gloves". The team asks that any financial donations be either in cash or check. We ask checks to be made payable to: Maineball LLC, 5745 Mahaney Clubhouse, Orono, ME, 04469 – Attached Name: Nick Derba
