SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The University of Maine women's soccer team battled Syracuse to a 1-1 tie on Sunday afternoon at SU Soccer Stadium.

Maine jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second minute thanks to a
Lara Kirkby strike. After
Kayla Kraemer pressured inside the box, she fed
Abby Kraemer who turned to feed Kirkby for a strike at the six.

Syracuse equalized the game, 1-1, in the 70th minute and then neither team found the back of the net for the remaining 20 minutes.

- Maine had a 15-10 lead in shots and a 5-2 lead in shots on goal.
- Syracuse had a 6-4 edge in corner kicks.
- Jessica Kasacek made one save in moving to 1-0-1 on the season.
- Lara Kirkby scored her second goal of the season while Abby Kraemer earned her third assist and Kayla Kraemer her second.
- Abby Kraemer had a game-high seven shots while Kirkby had a game-high two shots on goal.
- This marks the first result for an America East school against an ACC school in 12 years when UAlbany tied Syracuse, 1-1, on Aug. 24, 2012.
- It is the first game against an ACC school for Maine since 1999 and the first result against an ACC school since the Black Bears defeated Miami in 1998.
- Maine is now 0-1-1 all-time against Syracuse.
- Kirkby, Myla Schneider and Anna Phillips played the full 90 minutes.
