Baltimore, MD - The University of Maine baseball team was defeated by UMBC on Thursday afternoon.

First Pitch: 3 P.M. (7-1 UMBC)

First Inning: UMBC got on the board first with a sac fly to left field in the opening frame.

Fourth Inning: UMBC scored four runs in the frame. Marshall Smaracko was called on to record the final out of the fourth inning. Krieger allowed 5 runs (4 earned) on 6 hits, 4 walks and 2 strikeouts across his 3 and ⅔ innings of work.

Fifth Inning: Owen Wheeler began the fifth inning on the mound for Maine.

Smaracko got the lone batter he faced out as he pitched a scoreless ⅓ of an inning.

UMBC plated one run in the frame on a single to center field.

Sixth Inning: UMBC scored their seventh run of the day on a fielder's choice play.

Seventh Inning: Jeremiah Jenkins brought home the Black Bears only run of the day on a single to right field, scoring Jack Friend (BB).

Blaine Cockburn began the bottom of the frame on the mound for Maine. Wheeler allowed 2 runs on 1 hit, 2 walks and 2 strikeouts in 2 innings of relief.

Cockburn allowed no runs on 2 hits, 2 walks and 3 strikeouts in his 2 innings of work.

Maine (10-30, 6-9 AE) is back in action on Friday, May 3 for the second game of the series against UMBC. First pitch is scheduled for Noon.
