ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team (13-17-2, 9-14-2 HE) defeated Providence College (11-16-5, 10-10-5 HE)
on Friday night at Alfond Arena by a score of 2 to 1.
Just 13 seconds into the overtime period,
Mira Seregély buried the game-winning goal for the Black Bears.
Sam Morrison and
Adriana van de Leest picked up assists as the play developed from the faceoff-win.
In regulation, Providence struck first after two scoreless periods, one and a half minutes into the third period. About five minutes later,
Ava Stevenson evened the score on a penalty shot deke.
Senior goaltender
Jorden Mattison made 37 saves on 38 shots for Maine, picking up her fifth win of the season.
Maine's record improves to 13-17-2 (9-14-2 HE).
