
Baseball Takes First America East Loss of 2023 Sunday Afternoon, 18-17

First Inning: Jeremiah Jenkins got the Black Bears going early as he doubled home Jake Rainess (2B) in the opening frame.
Connor Goodman added onto the lead as he singled to right center, scoring Jenkins (2B) on the play.
Jake Marquez made it a three-run opening inning for the Black Bears he singled to right field, scoring Goodman (1B).
Binghamton scored their opening two runs of the contest on a pair of bases loaded walks. Evin Sullivan grabbed the lead for his squad as he doubled home a pair of runs to make it 4-3 Bearcats.
Blaine Cockburn's day came to an end in the first inning as he couldn't get out of the opening inning of the contest. Cockburn allowed 5 runs on 3 hits and 3 walks across just 1/3 of an inning. Ryan Scott was called on in with 1 out and runners on second and third.
Binghamton scored their fifth run of the opening frame on a wild pitch.
Second Inning: Jeremiah Jenkins made it back-to-back innings with an RBI as he singled home Jake Rainess (1B/SBx2).

Third Inning: Tommy Reifler tied the contest up at 6-6 as he singled home a run.
Fourth Inning: Quinn McDaniel put the Black Bears back in front as he doubled to left field, scoring Colin Plante (2B) and Jake Rainess (HBP).
Binghamton called on Dan McAliney in relief following the McDaniel double. Gabe Driscoll allowed 9 runs on 10 hits, 1 hit batter and striking out 4 across his 3 innings of relief.
Jeff Mejia capped off the three-run inning for the Black Bears as he hit an RBI single to left field, scoring McDaniel (2B).

Ninth Inning: Jack Collins was called on in relief to begin the ninth inning for the Bearcats Alex Hendersen lasted 2 and 1/3 innings in relief, allowing 1 run on 4 hits, 2 walks and striking out 2.
Alex Hendersen (1-0) picked up the win for the Bearcats.
Luc Lavigueur (0-3) took the loss for the Black Bears.
Jack Collins (5) picked up the save for the Bearcats as he allowed no runs in the ninth inning on 1 hit and 1 strikeout.
Maine (17-12, 11-1) returns to Orono for their next five games. Their first game back is on Thursday, Apr. 20 as they take on Thomas College. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 P.M.
