ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine men's ice hockey team was defeated by the #3 Boston University Terriers, 5-3, on Friday evening in the Alfond Arena.

First Goal (1-0 #3 Boston University): With wide open ice, Devin Kaplan scored the first goal of the evening. Traffic had settled in front of the Maine net leaving
Victor Ostman shielded from the shot. The freshman's wrister found its way through the traffic and past the Black Bears' netminder. Maine trailed by one goal 4:12 into the first period.

Second Goal (1-1):
Cole Hanson fired a shot that deflected off
Ben Poisson and into the Terriers' net.
Grayson Arnott fed the puck to Hanson who took the shot. With Poisson in front of the Boston University netminder, Maine managed to tie the Hockey East showdown at one goal apiece.

Third Goal (2-1 #3 Boston University): Matt Brown regained the lead for his squad with a goal two minutes of game play after the Bears tied the contest. Brown's original shot was saved, but he collected the rebound and found the back of the net. At the 8:53 mark of the second period, Maine once again was down one goal.

Fourth Goal (2-2): On the very next powerplay opportunity of the evening for the Black Bears,
Lynden Breen tied the game.
Donavan Villeneuve-Houle redirected a shot from
Thomas Freel. The redirection found its way to Breen who did the rest. The game would not stay tied from long.

Fifth Goal (3-2 #3 Boston University): Ryan Greene, at the end of the second period, gave the Terriers their third one goal lead of the evening. Looking as though the period would end in a 2-2 tie, Greene snuck the puck through Ostman. After 40:00, Maine trailed 3-2.

Sixth Goal (3-3): At the 1:11 mark of the third period, the Black Bears, once again, tied the Friday night contest.
Didrik Henbrant and
Michael Mancinelli both took shots that were saved by Commesso.
Nolan Renwick, from behind his own net, flipped the puck off a Terrier defender and into the BU net. Unfortunately, the game would not stay tied.

Seventh Goal (4-3 #3 Boston University): As the Black Bears killed the penalty, Wilmer Skoog scored a go-ahead goal. With his back to the net and Ostman seemingly hugging the post, Skoog backhanded a shot over the Maine netminder's shoulder and into the net. At the 10:59 mark of the third period, the Terriers held a 4-3 lead.

Eighth Goal (5-3 #3 Boston University): Jeremy Wilmer scored the final goal of the night, making it a two goal victory. It was the final goal of the night.

Notes: Victor Ostman saved 20 shots in net for the Black Bears, while Drew Commesso stopped 25 shots between the pipes for Boston University.

Maine went 2 for 3 on the power play, as the Terriers were 1-4 on its player advantages.
