ORONO, Maine – Two members of the University of Maine women's soccer team have been named to the NCAA Division I 2023 Academic All-District Women's Soccer Team, as announced on Tuesday by College Sports Communicators (CSC).
Â
CSC tabbed
Abby Kraemer and
Myla Schneider for the honors that recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The Academic All-District accolades come on the heels of both earning America East All-Academic Team honors in October.
Â
Kraemer, a biochemistry major with a 3.85 GPA, was named the America East Striker of the Year and received America East All-Conference First Team honors after leading the league in points (30), points per game (1.76), goals (13), goals per game (0.72), shots (68) and shots per game (3.78). Kraemer continually ranked in the top 20 in the nation in those same categories.
Â
Schneider, a biology major with a 3.96 GPA, led the Black Bears in minutes played for much of the season en route to America East All-Conference First Team honors. Schneider started all 19 contests and played at least 90 minutes in 15 of them while helping limit opponents to 1.05 goals against.
Â
Academic All-District honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early December.
