ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine men's ice hockey team was defeated by the #16/#15 University of Massachusetts Lowell River Hawks, 2-1, on Friday evening in the Alfond Arena.

First Goal (1-0 #16/#15 UMass Lowell): Marek Korencik scored the lone goal of the first period as the Black Bears returned to full strength. The first penalty of the night expired before the River Hawks found the back of the net. Korencik was wide open when he released the shot from between the face-off dots. It was a 1-0 advantage for UMass Lowell at the end of 20:00.

Second Goal (2-0 #16/#15 UMass Lowell): With serious traffic in front of
Victor Ostman, Isac Jonsson scored the second goal of the night for the River Hawks. Maine's netminder seemed as though he was unable to locate the wrister as the Black Bears trailed by two goals.

Third Goal (2-1 #16/#15 UMass Lowell): With 1:05 left in the second period,
Reid Pabich brought Maine to within one goal.
Brandon Holt let go of a shot from the blue line. The shot redirected off Pabich and into the Lowell net. After two periods, the Black Bears trailed by one goal.

The third period was skated to a scoreless tie as UMass Lowell held onto the one goal lead for a Friday night victory in Orono.

Notes: Victor Ostman saved 32 shots in net for the Black Bears, while Gustavs Davis Grigals stopped 25 shots between the pipes for UMass Lowell.

Maine went 0 for 3 on the power play, as the River Hawks were 0-4 on its player advantages.
