BALTIMORE -- The University of Maine women's soccer team defeated the UMBC Retrievers, 3-2, on Sunday afternoon at the Retriever Soccer Park and improved to 5-2-2, 1-0-1 on the season.

First Goal (1-0 UMBC): At the 5:40 mark of the first half, the Retrievers took a very early 1-0 lead. Meghan KcKye found the back of the net for the home club. It was by far the last goal scored in the afternoon.

Second Goal (2-0 UMBC): The Retrievers scored the first goal of the second half, doubling their lead. Alyssa Palmucci found space in the top, left corner of the goal. At the 60 minute mark, Maine trailed 2-0.

Third Goal (2-1 UMBC): Halle Rogers, awarded a free kick from 50-yards out, scored the first Black Bears' goal of the second half. The senior defender launched a shot that bounced over the UMBC's goaltender's head and into the net. Maine was about to make a vicious comeback.

Fourth Goal (2-2): Nine minutes later,
Saylor Clark scored the game tying goal from an impossible angle.
Delaney LaBonte laid the ball into the corner for Clark. The super senior lofted a shot from an almost impossible direction. With the goalkeeper off her mark, Maine tied the America East game with 20:00 minutes left in regulation.

Fifth Goal (3-2 Maine): In the 80th minute,
Birte Speck scored the go ahead goal with her heel.
Hannah Bamford played a ball into the box, which found Speck's shoe. With barely 10 minutes remaining in the second conference contest of the season, Maine grabbed its first lead.

The Black Bears held onto the one goal lead and improved to 1-0-1 in America East play.

Maine recorded 12 total shots on goal to the Retrievers' two, while UMBC tallied four corner kicks to the Black Bears' nine.

Halle Rogers,
Saylor Clark, and
Birte Speck were the three goal scorers.
Hannah Bamford and
Delaney LaBonte recorded the two assists.
