Orono, Maine - The University of Maine's women's ice hockey team is set to begin their 2022-23 season at home with a non-conference matchup against the #8 ranked Quinnipiac on Friday, Sept. 23 at 6:00 P.M. and Saturday, Sept. 24 at 2:00 P.M.

Black Bears Notes and Notables

• The women have many notable returners including last season's leader in goals, assists, and points, Ida Kuoppala. Kuoppala ended the 2021-22 season with 10 goals, 14 assists, and 24 points. Alexandra Johnson (15 points), Morgan Trimper (13 points), and Mira Seregély (13 points) are among more of the top returners from last season.
• Maine also has brought 11 new faces onto the roster, including fifth year transfer Grace Heiting who ended the 2021-22 season with eight goals and five assists, totaling to 13 points. The Black Bears also picked up transfer Emma Lange who ended the 2021-22 season with one goal and four assists. 

• Quinnipiac is coming off of a 26-10-3 record season which landed them to be ranked #8 in the country.

• Some notable returners for Quinnipiac include Olivia Mobley who led the team in points (34) off of 17 goals and 17 assists. Sadie Peart is another notable returner who was second on the team with points (33) on 14 goals and 19 assists.

Since 2010, the Black Bears are 6-15-1 against Quinnipiac. 
Since 2001, Quinnipiac are 16-14-2 against the Black Bears including winning the final matchup between the two teams last season 5-1.
