Orono, Maine - The University of Maine's women and men cross country teams competed at the Coast-to-Coast Battle of Beantown Meet on Friday Sept. 23. This meet was hosted by Boston College and featured 24 teams in the women's race and 21 teams racing for the men.
For the women, Lydia Gilmore led the Black Bears placing 94 with a time of 19:08 in the 5K race. Rachel Hodge was the next highest ranking female placing 133 with a time of 19:44.
For the men, they were led by two teammates placing in the top 25; Alec Troxell and Evan Thornton-Sherman. Troxell placed 19 with a time of 24:34 in the 8K race. Thornton-Sherman placed 21 with a time of 24:38.
The women took 19 scoring 566 points. The men took 11 capturing 305 points.
Both teams will be heading back to Franklin Park in M.A. to compete in the New England Championships on Saturday, Oct. 8.
