ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine women's soccer team will return to the pitch and open America East play this Sunday, September 18, when they take on the NJIT Highlanders. Kick-off is scheduled for 12:00 pm.

Black Bears Notes and Notables
- The flagship is looking to get back into the playoffs for the 14th time in the last 20 seasons. Maine is led by four seniors and eight graduate students.
- Saylor Clark scored two goals in Sunday afternoon's 4-0 victory over Holy Cross. Tegan Morrison and Birte Speck also found the back of the net on Mahaney Diamond. Kira Kutzinski stopped the only shot she saw and helped propel the Black Bears to a 4-1-1 record.
- Birte Speck (Player of the Week), Madison Michaud (Rookie of the Week), and Jordane Pinette (Rookie of the Week) have all won awards over the past month.
- Sophomore Abby Kraemer led the Black Bears in points during the 2021 season with a total of 11 during her rookie campaign. Graduate student Emma Donovan and junior Delaney LaBonte each scored two goals last season.
- NJIT is coming off a 7-10-2 season, which saw them fall in the opening round of the America East tournament.
- Three of the Highlanders top five scorers - Bailey Chant, Angela Harris, and Ciara Adams - from 2021 return in 2022.
- Molly Saylor will return in net after posting a 1.11 GAA and 0.824 save percentage over her 19 appearances last season.
