Four Different Black Bears Score in First Win of 2022 Season

ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine women's soccer team defeated the Saint Peter's University Peacocks, 4-0, on Sunday afternoon at the Mahaney Diamond.

First Goal (1-0 Maine): Saylor Clark scored the first goal of the 2022 women's soccer season. The super senior forced a turnover in Saint Peter's end and did the rest herself. Clark's strike gave the Peacocks' goaltender virtually zero time to react. 36 minutes into the non-conference contest, Maine held a one goal lead.

Second Goal (2-0 Maine): Playing in her first career game, Madison Michaud scored a goal with less than two minutes remaining in the first half. Clark, who had just found the back of the net, passed the ball ahead to Michaud. The Maine native ripped a ball that knuckled with ease past the Saint Peter's netminder. The Black Bears led 2-0 after 45 minutes.

Third Goal (3-0 Maine): Kayla and Abby Kraemer decided to play for a little bit before scoring the third goal of the afternoon. Kayla played a beautiful through ball to her sister, Abby. The younger of the two, Abby, scored her first goal of the season and padded the Maine lead.

Fourth Goal (4-0 Maine): After assisting on her sister's goal, Kayla Kraemer scored one of her own. Freshman Jordane Pinette's assist on the goal was the first of her career. It was the final goal of the afternoon as Maine held onto a 4-0 lead for their first win of the 2022 season.

Maine recorded 25 total shots on goal to Saint Peter's four while the Black Bears recorded seven corner kicks.

Abby Kraemer, Kayla Kraemer, Saylor Clark, and Madison Michaud all scored their first goals of the season. Clark, K. Kraemer, and Jordane Pinette recorded assists in the victory.

Kira Kutzinski turned away two shots during the final regular season home contest.

Next: The Black Bears are back on the pitch Thursday, August 25th vs Merrimack. The second non-conference game of the 2022 regular season is scheduled to kick-off at 7:00 pm.
