PREVIEW: Men's Basketball Heads to UAlbany

ORONO, ME - The University of Maine men's basketball team wraps up their short 2-game road trip to New York with a stop at UAlbany on Wednesday, Feb. 9.

Wednesday's game will be broadcast live on the ESPN +. The game can also be heard worldwide on the Black Bears Sports Network and at goblackbears.com.

A LOOK AT THE BLACK BEARS:

The Black Bears make the trip the Albany following a road loss at Binghamton on Feb. 5, 69-60.

Maks Klanjscek has been getting it done on both the offensive end and the Defensive end for the Black Bears as he is currently ranked 13th in America East conference play for scoring per game at 12.9. He is adding to his stellar conference play by ranking 5th in steals per game at 1.4.

Ja'Shonté Wright-Mcleish has been another two-way factor for the Black Bears, as he ranks 20th in points per game at 11.1  and 8th in steals per game at 1.3 in conference games. Wright-Mcleish has also been one of the hardest working players in the conference this season, as he currently ranks 3rd in minutes played per conference game at 35.7 per game.

A LOOK AT UALBANY:

The Great Danes are coming off of a sizable victory over the Hartford Hawks on Feb. 5, 71-52. Matt Cerruti (15 pts) and Jamel Horton (14 pts) led the contest in scoring.

Horton has been someone the Great Danes have leaned on for the majority of the season, as his scoring           average ranks 2nd on his squad at 11.8. Cerrutti (11.2) currently ranks 3rd.

Horton's scoring has found itself near the top of the conference as well, as his 16.4 points per game in        conference plays ranks 5th in America East. He is also dishing out 3.8 assists per game in conference play, which ranks 3rd in America East. His minutes per game of 36.4 rank second in the conference.

HISTORY AGAINST UALBANY:

These two sides will be facing off for the 38th time on Wednesday, with UAlbany holding a 23-14 lead all-time. The last time these squads faced off was on Feb.16, 2020, where the Great Danes came away with the victory, 66-60. Clark Ahmed (23 pts, 9 reb, 7 a) and Trey Hutchison (11 pts, 4 reb) got it done for UAlbany. Ja'Shonté Wright-Mcleish (10 pts, 3 reb) and Stephane Ingo (4 pts, 7 reb, 3 blocks, 2 steals) had solid outings for the Black Bears.
