PREVIEW: Men's Basketball Heads on the Road to Face Binghamton

ORONO, ME - The University of Maine men's basketball team heads on the road to Binghamton for a conference matchup on Saturday, Feb. 5.

Saturday's game will be broadcast live on the ESPN 3. The game can also be heard worldwide on the Black Bears Sports Network and at goblackbears.com.

A LOOK AT THE BLACK BEARS:

The Black Bears are coming off of a home loss to the Riverhawks of UMass Lowell back on Feb. 2, 62-50.

Maks Klanjscek has been the story of late for the Black Bears, havind dropped double-digit scoring efforts in 4 of his last 5 contests, including two games over 20. He has shot under 50% from the field in only 1 of his past 5 games.

Vukasin Masic has been a problem for opposing defenses in his last 5 contests, scoring double-digits in 4 of those while shooting over 50% in 3 of the contests. He has also dished out 11 assists over that stretch.

A LOOK AT BINGHAMTON:

The Bearcats are coming off of a victory against Stony Brook back on Feb. 2, a 77-61 victory.

Jacob Falko was the story of the night for Binghamton, scoring 29 points on 11-20 from the field. John McGriff also chimed in for 13 points in the win.

Falko and McGriff have been the work horses for the Bearcats during the season, as Falko currently leads his squad with 13.4 points per game. McGriff ranks second on his squad, dropping 10.6 per contest.

HISTORY AGAINST BINGHAMTON:

This matchup marks the 40th time these two squads will face off, and the second time during the 2021-22 season, as the Bearcats won the first matchup, 73-65. As a result of their earlier win, they also hold the all-time record against the Black Bears at a 20-19 record. Jacob Falko (22 pts) and John McGriff (18 pts) did the heavy work offensively for the Black Bears. Sam Ihekwoaba (13 pts) and Peter Filipovity (12 pts) lead the Black Bears in scoring during the losing performance.
