CARY, NC – The University of Maine Black Bears fell to a Penn State walk-off in the bottom the Ninth inning to win their second game of the season over the Black Bears, 4-3.
 
Third Inning: 
Ryan Turenne got the Black Bears on the board first as he roped a line drive to right field, driving in 
Jeff Mejia to give Maine the 1-0 lead.
 
Fourth Inning: Joa Bramanti blasted his second home run of the season, a 2-run homer, that plated 
Quinn McDaniel, who hit a lead-off triple for the Black Bears.
 
Fifth Inning: Penn State broke through in the score column when Matt Wood hit a 2-RBI single to right field, driving in C.J. Pittaro and Billy Gerlott.
 
Sixth Inning: Billy Gerlott kept the Penn State offense going in the sixth inning as he drove in an RBI of his own, coming off of a double to right-center. Anthony Steele came around from 1
st to score and tie the contest up at 3-3.
 
Ninth Inning: Penn State would walk it off in the bottom of the Ninth to win their second game of the 2022 season. Cole Bartels hit a fielder's choice to 
Quinn McDaniel at second base, who then made a throwing error that resulted in C.J. Pittaro scoring on the play, ending the game at 4-3.
 
Travis Luensmann had a quality start for Penn State, completing 6 innings, allowing 3 runs, all earned, while striking out 8.
 
Brett Erwin turned in a quality start for the Black Bears, pitching 6 innings, allowing 3 earned runs and striking out 7 for his second-straight great outing to kick off his career as a Black Bear.
 
Tyler Shingledeck picks up the win in relief for Penn State, his first of the season, as he pitched a scoreless top of the ninth.
 
Trevor Labonte picks up the loss in relief for the Black Bears, throwing 2 and 2/3 innings of relief, allowing one un-earned run while striking out 1.
 
Maine will take on Penn State in a double-header on Saturday, Feb. 26 at Noon, with game two to follow 30 minutes after game one's ending.
