Men's Basketball Falls in London to Marist, 62-61

Box Score London, UK – The University of Maine men's basketball team fell in London against Marist on Sunday afternoon, 62-61.
 
Marist found themselves out to the early lead in the contest at 12-6 following a made free throw by former Black Bear, Stephane Ingo.
 
The Black Bears kept the score within six points before going on a 6-0 run at 9:08 to tie the score up at 20-20 following a Ja'Shonté Wright-McLeish layup.
 
The two sides traded buckets until Marist score the final two buckets of the first half, staking themselves out to a slim three-point lead at halftime, 31-28.
 
Kellen Tynes (8), Ja'Shonté Wright-McLeish (6) and Jaden Clayton (6) led the Black Bears in scoring in the first half.
 
Marist started the second half off by getting to their biggest lead of the night, a seven-point lead following a Patrick Gardner layup.
 
Maine answered in a big way by going on a 10-0 run starting at 11:52 to take the lead at 50-45. The Black Bears held Marist scoreless for four minutes and 46 seconds during the run.
 
Maine pushed for their largest lead of the game as Gedi Juozapaitis buried a layup to give Maine a six-point lead with 2:49 left on the clock.
 
Marist scored the following three buckets in the contest, grabbing a one-point lead with 54 seconds remaining.
 
Ata Turgut buried a big pair of free throws for the Black Bears with 41 seconds remaining in the contest before Kam Farris hit a layup to give Marist a 62-61 lead.
 
The Black Bears had two good chances to take the lead on the final possession of the contest as Ja'Shonté Wright-McLeish attempted a three-pointer and Kellen Tynes attempted an offensive rebound tip-in, but both came up empty.
 
Marist came away with the victory by a final score of 62-61.
 
Kellen Tynes finished with his second double-double of the season, scoring 12 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
 
Ja'Shonté Wright-McLeish (12) and Peter Filipovity (11) rounded out the top-three scorers for the Black Bears.
 
Maine (4-4) will next be in action on Thursday, Dec. 8 when they take on UMaine at Augusta at The Pit in Orono. That game is scheduled to begin at 4:30 P.M.
