This will be the fifth matchup all-time between these two sides, with the latest matchup coming in the 2021-22 season, where the Black Bears got the victory 75-43.
ABOUT THE BLACK BEARS:
The Black Bears are coming off of an opening night loss against Big Ten opponent, the Cornhuskers of Nebraska, 79-66.
Maine put up an excellent fight against the Big Ten opponent, including a great UMaine debut by Gedi Juozapaitis. Juozapaitis dropped a team-high 20 points on 7 of 10 shooting, including 6 of 7 from 3-point range.
Kristian Feierbergs was solid in the season opener as well, where he dropped 16 points on 6 of 9 shooting and 3 of 6 from 3-point range. He scored 14 of his 16 points in the second half against Nebraska. He also brought in a team-high 6 rebounds.
Jaden Clayton was an efficient distributor of the basketball in his collegiate debut, dishing out 7 assists without turning over the ball in 34 minutes.
The Black Bears were the more efficient shooting team from the field in the losing effort, where they out-shot the Cornhuskers 47.3% to 46.2% from the field and 41.4% to 31.8% from 3-point range.
