NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. -- The University of Maine men's ice hockey team was defeated by the #19 Merrimack College Warriors, 5-3, on Saturday night at Lawler Rink.

First Goal (1-0 #19 Merrimack): While on their first power play of the evening, the Warriors scored the first goal of the Saturday night series finale. Matt Copponi, his second in as many nights, punched home the loose puck. #19 Merrimack held a one goal advantage 8:37 into the first period.

Second Goal (1-1): Didrik Henbrant scored his first goal as a Black Bear at the 11:05 mark of the first period. Luke Antonacci's pass deflected off
Donavan Villeneuve-Houle's skates to Henbrant. The forward flipped a shot off the Warriors' netminder and into the back of the net. The game would not stay tied.

Third Goal (2-1 #19 Merrimack): Will Calverley reclaimed the lead for the Warriors. A broken play, the forward's shot found its way through traffic.
Victor Ostman, doing all he could, was unable to stop the attack. Merrimack was not finished with the first period.

Fourth Goal (3-1 #19 Merrimack): Scoring his and his squad's second power play goal of the first period, Copponi extended the lead with a goal at the 19:58 mark of the period. Maine trailed 3-1 after 20:00.

Fifth Goal (4-1 #19 Merrimack): The Warriors scored their third power play goal at the 8:51 mark of the second period. Zach Bookman, left unmarked on Ostman's weak side, scored the fourth goal of the night for Merrimack with ease.

Sixth Goal (4-2 #19 Merrimack): Scoring his second goal of the season, Felix Trudeau cut the Warrior's lead to two. Brandon Chabrier fired a shot from the blueline that bounced off
Lynden Breen. The bouncing puck found Trudeau's stick then the back of the net. At the end of 40:00, Maine trailed 4-2.

Seventh Goal (4-3 #19 Merrimack): With bodies crashing the net,
Lynden Breen brought the Black Bears to within one goal.
Ben Poisson's wrister was blocked by a Warrior defender. Unable to clear the puck out of the zone, Breen scored his fourth goal of the year. With 10:24 remaining in regulation, Maine trailed by one goal.

Eighth Goal (5-3 #19 Merrimack): Ben Brar added an empty net goal. The two goal advantage stood as the Black Bears fell, 5-3.

Notes: Victor Ostman saved 16 shots in net for the Black Bears, while Zachary Borgiel recorded 25 saves between the pipes for #19 Merrimack.

Maine went 0 for 3 on the power play, as the Warriors were 3-3 on its player advantages.
