Orono, Maine -- The University of Maine men's cross country team placed fifth out of 20 teams at the New England Championships on Saturday afternoon. The Black Bears totaled 128 points in the event.
Alec Troxell paced the Black Bears with a runner-up finish at 24:43, just two seconds behind the overall winner.
Evan Thornton-Sherman added a top five finish, crossing the line fifth at 24:50.
Fisher Macklin rounded out Maine's top-20 finishers, placing 16th at 25:20.
