The Series
Since 2005, the Black Bears are 19-23-6 against the Wildcats including the last matchup between the teams where Maine earned the 5-0 shutout victory.Â
Maine has won their last two matchups against The University of New Hampshire including a 4-1 victory in the 2020-21 season and a 5-0 win last season.Â
Black Bears Notes and Notables
- Maine is coming off of their first win of the season, defeating Saint Anselm 6-3 on Saturday, Oct. 1.Â
- Six different Black Bears scored in this victory.Â
- Emma Lange scored the first goal of the game one minute into the game from behind the blue line. Grace Heiting scored the second goal 14 seconds later to give Maine the quick 2-0 lead.
- Alexandra Johnson and Ally Trimper both would score a goal in the second period to extend Maine's lead. Ashley Bialas would score the final goal of the second period for the Black Bears, her first collegiate goal.
- Ida Kuoppala would score the sixth goal for Maine in the third period by a beautiful flick up to the top right corner of the net.
- Anna LaRose got the start in net for Maine, ending with 18 saves.
A Bit About The University of New Hampshire
- The Wildcats have started their season on a 1-2 record coming off a 0-2 loss to Quinnipiac on Oct. 2.
- Some notable returners for the Wildcats include last season's leader in goals scored, Kira Juodikis (12 goals, eight assists, and 20 points). Senior Tamara Thierus also returns this season after also ending the 2021-22 season with 20 points.
- The University of New Hampshire also welcomes back Ava Boutilier in net. She finished last season with a 7-14 record with one shut out.Â
