Four Different Black Bears Score in Women's Soccer Quarterfinal Victory over NJIT, 4-1

ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine women's soccer team defeated the NJIT Highlanders, 4-1, in the quarterfinal round of the America East tournament on Sunday evening at Mahaney Diamond.
 
First Goal (1-0 Maine): Abby Kraemer passed the ball ahead to Emma Donovan. The graduate student made two defenders miss before blasting a shot into the back of the net. Just over 10:00 into the America East Quarterfinal game, Maine held a 1-0 lead.
 
Second Goal (2-0 Maine): After substituting into the playoff game, Saylor Clark scored the Black Bears' second goal of the night. It took the graduate student 00:38 to score. Donovan assisted on the goal for her third point of the night. At the half, the Black Bears led by two goals.
 
Third Goal (2-1 Maine): Trying to cross the ball through the Maine box, Briana Andreoli scored the only goal of the evening for the Highlanders. The Black Bears would answer almost immediately.
 
Fourth Goal (3-1 Maine): 00:19 after the NJIT goal, Julie Lossius scored her first goal of the season. Clark fired a shot off the crossbar that redirected to the freshman forward. At the 68th minute, the Black Bears held a two goal lead.
 
Fifth Goal (4-1 Maine): Putting an exclamation mark on the quarterfinal victory, Abby Kraemer scored the fourth goal of the night. Clark, continuing her excellent night, found the younger Kraemer in the NJIT box. Taking advantage of her opportunity, Kraemer found the back of the net and propelled her squad to a 4-1 win.

The Semifinal Round of the America East tournament is set for Thursday, November 3rd at the University of New Hampshire. Gametime is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
 
Maine recorded 11 total shots on goal to the Highlanders' four, while NJIT tallied one corner kick to the Black Bears' five.
 
Kira Kutzinski walked away with three saves. Emma Donovan, Saylor Clark, Julie Lossius, and Abby Kraemer all scored in the playoff victory. Kraemer, Donovan, and Clark also recorded an assist.
 
Next: The Black Bears are back on the pitch Thursday, November 3rd at #2 New Hampshire. Kick-off for the America East Semi-Final round is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
