BOSTON, Mass. -- The America East Conference announced on Monday that University of Maine Guard, Sam Ihekwoaba, was named the Rookie of the Week for his performance against NJIT.

In the Conference opener back on Sunday, Jan. 2, Ihekwoaba dropped a career high 18 points in the losing effort, while shooting a team best 8-14 (57%). He also knocked down a single 3pt (1-3) while turning in a season high 34 minutes of action.

Ihekwoaba also brought in a career high 6 rebounds, placing him second on the team in the contest. He also dished out a single assist.

The Black Bears are back on the road for another America East contest as they make the trip to Stony Brook for a matchup against the Seawolves on Saturday, Jan. 8. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 P.M.
