ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine men's and women's cross country teams began their 2021 season with some strong performances against Army.
For the Men,
Luke Marsanskis finished with the highest overall placement among all Black Bear's, a fourth place, in the 8K run with a time of 25:35.23. Teammate Sam Mills took 10th place with a time of 26:11.46 followed by
Alec Troxell in 11th at 26:22.76.
On the women's 5k run,
Lydia Gilmore gave Maine their second highest placement, a fifth, with a time of 19:06.51. Rachael Hodge (19:59.30) and
Alexa Brennan (20:53.51) took home a 16th and 17th in the meet.
Army was led by strong showings from Marshall Beatty on the men's side and Georgia Jones on the women's side, both of which took first place in their respective events.
Maine fell to Army 16-47 on the women's side and 17-46 on the men's side.
Maine will next compete at the Dartmouth Sanchez Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 11 in Hanover, N.H.
