Orono, Maine – The University of Maine men's and women's cross country teams look to get the 2021 fall season underway with a home matchup against Army on Friday, Sept. 3. The men will start at 1:00 P.M. and the women will follow them with a 1:45 P.M. start time.
Each race will begin in the fields located behind the Maine Field Hockey complex and finish in front of the grandstands at Alfond Stadium.
On the women's side, they are going to be led sophomore's
Rachel Hodge (Delmar, NY) and
Anna Folley (South Portland ME). Both had strong showings in the final matchup of the 2021 spring season, with Hodge placing 54
th (20:14.1) and Folley taking 59
th (20:23.2) at the 2021 America East Championships in the 5K.
For the men, they are being led by junior's Sam Mills (Biddeford, ME) and
Luke Marsanskis (Cumberland, ME). Mills led the charge for the Black Bears at the 2021 America East Championships, showcasing an 11
thplace in the 8K (25:10.5), while Marsanskis finished strong with a 30
th (26:03.9) in the same event.
Maine took 8
th place as a team on the women's side and 6
th place on the men's side back at the 2021 America East Championships.
