ORONO - The University of Maine men's basketball program announced its 2021-22 schedule on Wednesday morning. The team is slated to compete in 18 conference contests, beginning on January 2nd, alongside a non-conference schedule that includes trips to Colorado, Virginia Tech, and Rutgers among others.

The Black Bears will officially open their season on November 9th in Blacksburg, Virginia against the Virginia Tech Hokies, starting a non-conference schedule that includes trips to Colorado, Bradley, Columbia, Quinnipiac, and Rutgers. They'll host UMaine-Farmington, UMaine-Fort Kent, and Central Connecticut in November and UNE and Merrimack in December.

For the conference slate, Maine will embark on an 18-game America East schedule that starts on January 2nd at NJIT. Their home conference opener will be the next time out when they host Hartford on January 5th. 

The America East will also return to their traditional postseason format, with the top eight teams qualifying for playoffs that will begin on March 5th.
