ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine women's soccer team defeated the Sacred Heart Pioneers, 2-0, on Thursday evening on the Mahaney Diamond.
First Goal (Maine 1-0): 44:19 into the first half, the Black Bears scored the first goal of the 2021 season.
Hannah Bamford fired a shot off Sacred Heart's goalkeeper, who made the initial save. Sophomore forward
Kayla Kraemer crashed the net, corralled the ball, and found the back of the net. Maine led 1-0 at the end of the first half.
Second Goal (Maine 2-0): The other half of the Kraemer sisters scored her own goal in the second half. 10 minutes into the final 45,
Abby Kraemer scored her first career goal. A Sacred Heart defender made a bid to clear the ball but deflected it to Kraemer. The Black Bears held onto a 2-0 lead early in the second half.
Maine held a 9-7 advantage in total shots while trailing 5-6 in corner kicks.

Kutzinski turned away three shots during regulation for her squad.
