Fagnano tabbed CAA Player of the Week

Sophomore quarterback threw for four touchdowns, rushed for another in win at Stony Brook

Orono, Maine -- For the second consecutive week, University of Maine quarterback Joe Fagnano has been named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday, March 22.

Fagnano tallied five total touchdowns for the second-straight week after finishing 19-of-29 for 250 yards and four touchdowns while adding 24 rush yards and a rushing score. Fagnano registered season-highs in completions, yard, and completion percentage (65.5) in the win.

Fagnano was clutch in several key situations on Saturday at Stony Brook as he finished 8-of-9 with 86 yards and six first downs when passing on third down. The touchdown total marked the third time in his career in which he's registered five scores in a single game.

The sophomore, who tossed all four of his touchdowns in the second half at Stony Brook, has now thrown 25 touchdowns and only three interceptions in his last 10 games. Fagnano has gone five-straight games without throwing an interception, dating back to the 2019 season.

Following the bye week, Maine will return to action on April 3 when it hosts Villanova at noon.
