LOWELL, Mass. - The University of Maine field hockey program completed the America East sweep in their first weekend of conference play, defeating California by a 1-0 final score in a neutral site contest hosted by UMass-Lowell.
Poppy Lambert scored her second goal of the weekend and her career at the 9:02 mark of the first quarter, and that was all
Mia Borley and the Maine defense needed to take the 1-0 victory.
The shutout is the eleventh of
Mia Borley's career, and her ninth in conference play. The America East record for shutouts in a career in conference play is eleven set by Danielle Butsch of Northeastern in the late 1990s.
Maine returns home finally for their next tilt, hosting Vermont on March 26th and UNH on the 28th in Orono. As it currently stands, fans will not be allowed in attendance on the UMaine campus.
