ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine men's ice hockey team was defeated by the University of New Hampshire, 7-2, on Wednesday evening in the Alfond Arena.

First Goal (1-0 UNH): Kalle Eriksson scored the first of seven goals for the Wildcats. Exactly 17 minutes into the game, the Wildcats pulled ahead by a goal. Jackson Pierson found Eriksson, who found the back of the net. It was the only goal of the first period.

Second Goal (2-0 UNH): While on the powerplay, Eric MacAdams tallied the first of three goals for the Wildcats in the second period. 2:30 into the middle period, Maine trailed by two.

Third Goal (2-1 UNH): 1:16 later,
Adrien Bisson pulled the Black Bears to within one goal.
Simon Butala started the Maine attack. The assistant captain played the puck ahead to
Adam Dawe. The junior made a few moves and found Bisson. The defenseman fired the puck and scored the Black Bears' first goal of night.

Fourth Goal (3-1 UNH): For the second time in the period, Jackson Pierson gave his squad a two goal lead. Will MacKinnon found a streaking Pierson, who did the rest.

Fifth Goal (3-2 UNH): Keeping pace with the Wildcats,
Lynden Breen snagged his third goal of the season. The captain,
Jack Quinlivan, started the Maine scoring opportunity with a dish to
Jakub Sirota. The defenseman left the puck for Breen, who made it a 3-2 game.

Sixth Goal (4-2 UNH): On the penalty kill, Tyler Ward, again, extended New Hampshire's lead to two goals. Stealing the puck in the neutral zone, Filip Engaras fired the puck ahead to Ward. After the second period, the visitors held commanding two goal lead.

Seventh Goal (5-2 UNH): After assisting on the previous goal, Engaras scored an unassisted goal. 1:00 minute into the third period, UNH started to pull away.

Eighth Goal (6-2 UNH): Adding to their three goal lead, Luke Reid lit the lamp. It was the second short handed goal of the evening. This time the goal came on an empty net.

Ninth Goal (7-2 UNH): with a little over three minutes remaining in the Hockey East playoff game, Lucas Herrmann scored the seventh and final goal of the evening. The lead stood as Maine dropped its final game of the 2020-21 season.

Notes: Victor Ostman stopped 29 shots for the Black Bears, while Mike Robinson tallied 20 saves for UNH.

Maine went 0 for 4 on their power play opportunities, as the Wildcats were 2-6 on its player advantages.
