Black Bears earn nine CAA Football All-Conference honors

Orono, Maine -- Eight members of the University of Maine football team earned nine Colonial Athletic Association All-Conference honors, as announced by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.

Andre Miller (WR), Michael Gerace (OL), Devin Young (KR), Ray Miller (LB), and Bryce Colee (SPEC) all earned spots on the CAA All-Conference Second Team. Steve Petrick (FB), Young (WR), Shawn Bowman (TE), and PJ Barr (OL) each earned individual selections to the CAA All-Conference Third Team.

Miller earned his second All-Conference honor after being selected to the All-CAA First Team in the spring of 2021. Miller tallied 39 receptions for 684 yards and three touchdowns in nine games this season. Miller ranked ninth in the CAA in receptions per game (3.90) and fourth in receiving yards per game (68.4) while averaging 17.5 yards per catch. Miller concludes his impressive career ranking 14th on Maine's all-time receiving yards list with 1,848 to go along with 104 receptions and 14 touchdowns.

Young, who earned All-CAA honors at two different positions, led the Black Bears with 54 receptions for 585 yards and three touchdowns while adding 26 kick returns for a team-high 691 yards. Young, who ranked third in the CAA at 116.8 all-purpose yards per game, ranked third in the CAA and 14th in FCS at 26.6 yards per kick return. Young also ranked among the CAA leaders in receiving, checking in fourth at 4.91 receptions per game.

Gerace and Barr started all 11 games at center for a Maine offensive line which ranked third in the CAA and 24th nationally in sacks allowed (1.36). Maine's offensive line, anchored by Gerace and Barr, did not allow a sack in either of its games against FBS opponents Northern Illinois and UMass and helped lead the way for a pair of running backs who each ended the season ranked in the top 10 among league rushers.

Miller had a huge impact on Maine's Black Hole defense in his first season in Orono after transferring in from Campbell. The linebacker racked up 103 tackles, 9.0 for loss, with three sacks, two pass breakups, and an interception. Miller posted double-digit tackle totals in six of Maine's 11 games, including in each of the last four.

Colee earned his second All-CAA recognition after being named to the league's All-CAA second team in the spring of 2021. Colee made 51 career starts for the Black Bears after serving as a key component of Maine's special teams units.

Bowman proved to be a key weapon on offense for the Black Bears as he finished the season with career-highs in both receptions (24) and receiving yards (282) while adding a career-best four touchdowns.

Petrick earns his first All-CAA honor after posting career-highs in receptions (6) and receiving yards (38) while registering his first career receiving touchdown on a 15-yard reception at UAlbany.
