CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- The University of Maine men's ice hockey team was defeated by the #19 Boston College Eagles, 6-2, on Thursday evening in the Conte Forum.

First Goal (1-0 #19 Boston College): 1:47 into the Thursday night Hockey East contest, the Eagles snagged a 1-0 lead. Casey Carreau was the beneficiary of some quick passing by his linemates. With an open net in front of him, Carreau received a pass from Mike Posma and lit the lamp.

Second Goal (2-0 #19 Boston College): Less than one minute later, Jack McBain extended the Boston College lead. Brandon Kruse played the puck from behind the Maine net to an unmarked McBain. Maine trailed 2-0 2:39 into the road game.

Third Goal (3-0 #19 Boston College): As was the case with the Eagles' second goal, McBain and Kruse combined to find the back of the net. Kruse set up his linemate for Boston College's third goal of the first period.

Fourth Goal (3-1 #19 Boston College):
Grant Hebert pulled the Black Bears to within one goal at the 13:43 mark of the first period. After collecting the puck in the Maine zone,
David Breazeale played it ahead to Hebert. The forward did the rest and sent the Black Bears into the break only down two goals.

Fifth Goal (4-1 #19 Boston College): 00:11 into the Eagles power play opportunity, Marc McLaughlin, once again, extended his squad's lead to three. With traffic in front of
Victor Ostman, the sophomore netminder was unable to locate the McLaughlin shot. 7:16 into the second period, Maine trailed by three goals.

Sixth Goal (4-2 #19 Boston College): Donavan Villeneuve-Houle scored his third goal of the short season at the 17:16 mark of the second period. The sophomore shot the puck from an impossible angle, for most. Hebert, scoring earlier in the game, distributed the wealth this time. Maine once again trailed by only two goals.

Seventh Goal (5-2 #19 Boston College): With only 00:32 remaining in the second period, McBain scored his third goal of the night. The Eagle's goal inflated his squad's lead to three. At the second intermission, Maine trailed 5-2.

Eighth Goal (6-2 #19 Boston College): Mike Posma added another for the Eagles at the 12:26 mark. It was the final goal of the night, as Boston College took game one of the two game series, 6-2.

Notes: Matthew Thiessen stopped four shots for the Black Bears before
Victor Ostman was substituted into the game and stopped 18. Eric Dop tallied 23 saves for Boston College.

Maine went 0 for 1 on their power play opportunities, as the Eagles were 1-2 on its player advantages.

The Black Bears blocked six shots and won 32 face-offs as a team.
