ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine men's ice hockey team defeated the Merrimack College Warriors, 6-5 in overtime, on Saturday evening in Alfond Arena.

First Goal (1-0 Merrimack): Halfway through the first period, the Warriors grabbed a 1-0 lead. The third line continued their torrid streak as they combined to score another goal for their squad. Ben Brar lit the lamp after Max Newton found his linemate. At the end of one period, Maine trailed by a goal.

Second Goal (2-0 Merrimack): The majority of the second period was a track meet. The action went end-to-end for a span of eight minutes. Christian Felton put an end to the up and down play with the Warriors' second goal of the evening. The Black Bears were in a 2-0 hole after two complete in the Alfond.

The 2-0 score stood as Merrimack held on to win the final contest of the two game series.

Notes: Matthew Thiessen stopped 26 shots for the Black Bears, while Zachary Borgiel tallied 18 saves for Merrimack.

Maine went 0 for 3 on their power play opportunities, as the Warriors were 0-3 on its player advantages.

The Black Bears blocked four shots and won 21 face-offs as a team.
