BOSTON -- The University of Maine men's ice hockey team was defeated by the #20 Northeastern University Huskies, 3-2, on Saturday evening in Matthews Arena.

First Goal (1-0 Maine): Ben Poisson scored the first goal of the Saturday night match-up, late in the first period.
Keenan Suthers won a face-off back to
Simon Butala, who kept it in the zone. Suthers took the puck and fired a shot on net. Poisson collected the save, found some open space, and gave the Black Bears a 1-0 lead heading into the first intermission.

Second Goal (2-0 Maine): As the penalty kill skated off the ice,
Adam Dawe doubled the Black Bears' lead.
Adrien Bisson blocked a shot and cleared it out of the zone.
Jack Quinlivan, the captain, flipped the puck ahead to a streaking Dawe. The senior forward took advantage of the breakaway opportunity and scored his second goal of the season.

Third Goal (2-1 Maine): In the final minutes of the second period, Northeastern cut into the Black Bears' lead. Justin Hryckowian found a soft spot in the Maine defense and beat
Victor Ostman. At the second intermission, Maine led by a goal.

Fourth Goal (2-2): With just over 15 minutes left in the Saturday night Hockey East contest, Gunnarwolfe Fontaine tied the score at two goals apiece. Sam Colangelo's original shot found the post. Fontaine cleaned up the misfire and evened the game early in the final period.

Fifth Goal (3-2 #20 Northeastern): Appearing to dump the puck, Jayden Struble found the back of the net. With traffic in front of
Victor Ostman, the Black Bears' goaltender was unable to see the puck. From beyond the blue line, Struble gave the Huskies a late 3-2 lead. Maine was unable to find a goal in the final minutes as they dropped the Saturday night series finale to #20 Northeastern.

Edward Lindelow both made their season debuts on Saturday night in Matthews Arena.

Victor Ostman stopped 27 shots for the Black Bears, while Devon Levi tallied 19 saves for Northeastern.

Maine went 0 for 3 on their power play opportunities, as the Huskies were 0-4 on its player advantages.

The Black Bears blocked nine shots and won 20 face-offs as a team.
