ORONO, Maine -- University of Maine women's ice hockey goaltender
Carly Jackson was selected in the first round, No. 3 overall by the Buffalo Beauts in the 2020 National Women's Hockey League Draft on Tuesday, April 28. Jackson becomes the highest NWHL draft pick in UMaine women's ice hockey history.
"Fans of Buffalo are going to get a consistent, poised and controlled goalie who started for us in all four of her seasons," UMaine
Richard Reichenbach said. "She improved each season and became a leader and role model in her career. She is fun to watch and brings her energy and passion for the game and life to the rink every day. Her only downside is trying to get her to wear sleeves in the weight room. Congrats, Carly!"
Jackson, the winningest goaltender in UMaine women's ice hockey history, completed her career at UMaine with the most saves in school history, making 3,029 stops for the Black Bears. Jackson, who tallied a school record 45 wins between the pipes, finished her time with the Black Bears with the highest saves percentage (.918) and lowest goals against average (2.15) in school history to go along with a school record 10 shutouts.
