Doherty and Fossier Combine for Six Points in OT Win at #4 Boston College

CHESTNUT HILL, Massachusetts -- Tim Doherty and Mitchell Fossier combined for three goals and three assists in the 4-3 overtime victory over the #4 Boston College Eagles on Friday evening.

First Goal (Boston College 1-0): Mike Hardman started the scoring for the Eagles in the first period. Jeremy Swayman turned away Ben Finkelstein's shot. The wrister deflected to Hardman who buried the puck into an open Maine net.

Second Goal (Boston College 2-0): The home squad's second goal of the opening 20:00 came on the power play. Alex Newhook lifted the puck over Swayman. Matt Boldy did most of the work and found his linemate patiently waiting for the pass. The Eagles led 2-0 after the first period.

Third Goal (Boston College 2-1): Maine wasted little time scoring their first goal of the second period. Tim Doherty found the back of the net 00:27 after the puck hit the ice. Mitchell Fossier lead a 2-on-1 break with Doherty. The captain waited until the Eagle defender committed to Fossier. Once commitment was obvious, the senior found his fellow classmate. The deficit was only one very early in the second period.

Fourth Goal (2-2): Less than four minutes later, AJ Drobot tied the Hockey East match-up at two goals apiece. Almost a carbon copy of the first goal, Fossier forced the Boston College defense into an uncomfortable position. One of the best assistmen in the country found the freshman for Maine's second goal of the first five minutes.

Fifth Goal (Maine 3-2): Not to be out done, Fossier scored a goal of his own to finish the second period. Boston College was called for slashing. It took the Black Bears 00:15 to score the go ahead goal. Adam Dawe put the puck directly on Fossier's stick. The captain simply needed to redirect the pass. Maine held a 3-2 lead after two periods.

Sixth Goal (3-3): Logan Hutsko scored a power play seconds after his squad won the face-off. Maine was called for a trip. The Eagles were playing with six skaters as they had pulled their goaltender. Hutsko's goal came with less than two minutes left in regulation.

Seventh Goal (Maine 4-3): Eduards Tralmaks did all but score the game winning, overtime goal. The forward battle for and won the puck behind the Eagles' net. With great awareness, Tralmaks found a crashing Tim Doherty. The two combined for the game winning goal for Maine.
