RIVERDALE, N.Y. – On Monday evening, it was announced that University of Maine baseball head coach
Nick Derba has been elected to the Manhattan College Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2019. The 41st annual induction ceremony and dinner will take place on Saturday, November 9.
Derba, a standout catcher for the Jaspers, was named to the All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference First Team on three separate occasions. In his four seasons, he helped lead Manhattan to 121 wins, including victories against Nebraska and San Francisco in NCAA Regional Play in 2006.
Over the course of his collegiate career, Derba amassed 212 hits, 172 runs, 26 home runs and 129 RBIs. Following his successful collegiate career, Derba was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in 2007, spending six seasons in the professional ranks with the organization.
Before coming to Orono as an assistant coach in 2014, Derba spent the 2013 season as an assistant coach at Manhattan. He recently finished his third season at the helm of the Maine baseball program in 2019.
