Men's and Women's Swim and Dive Prepare for Maine State Meet

ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine men's and women's swim and dive teams get ready to compete at the Maine State Meet.
For the men, they are coming off of a third-place finish at the URI Invitational, where they totaled 538 points across the three-day event. Among some of the best performers for Maine were Andy Sprague, Liam Blair and Riley Clark.
Sprague finished with two fourth-places, two fifth-places and a seventh-place. Liam Blair finished with two fourth-places and two fifth-places. Clark would place fifth in the 3-meter dive with a 185.50 and fourth in the 1-meter dive with a score of 210.65.
For the women, they are coming off of a seventh-place finish at the URI Invitational, where they totaled 265 points across the three-day event. Among some of the best performers for Maine were Emma Blair, PhilAnn Dixon, Ines Khiyara and Caroline Strolic.
Emma Blair finished with a fifth, a seventh-place and two eighth-place finishes. Dixon Finished in second place in the one-meter dive with the highest diving score for UMaine on the weekend with a 246.90. She also placed sixth in the three-meter dive, scoring a 219.15. Khiyara finished with a fifth-place finish, a seventh-place and an eighth-place finish. Strolic gave both the men and women the only first place finish of the weekend, swimming a 2:24.24 in the 200-yard breaststroke. She also finished with a fifth-place as well.
The Maine State Meet is scheduled to get underway at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6 and resume action on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 11:00 a.m.
