ORONO, Maine—The Black Bears men's cross country team took its first home meet victory against the University of New Hampshire Wildcats on Friday by a combined team score of 22-34.
Maine was led by a first place finish by
Aaron Willingham, who entered the meet as America East Conference Male Performer of the Week. The senior finished in 25:48, nearly two minutes ahead of the next runner.
Finishing behind him was
Colin Tardiff, taking third with a final time of 27:21. Ethan Orach (27:49), finishing in fifth all helped to seal the victory with their finishes.
Jacob Terry (27:53) took sixth,
Daniel Lesko (27:54) finished seventh, and James Olivier (28:17) all rounded out the top ten for Maine.
Black Bears Cooper Nelson (29:47), Travis Nickerson (30:40), and Andrew Levesque (31:39) also ran in the meet at Morse Stadium.
The top finisher for UNH, Aidan Sullivan, tabbed second place with a 27:20 final time.
Maine cross country returns to action again at the New England Regionals in Boston, hosted by Boston University, on Sat. October 6.
