50 Yard Freestyle, 200 Yard Freestyle Relay Highlights Day Two of America East Championships for Women's Swim

WORCESTER, Mass. – After day two of the America East Championships, the UMaine swimming and diving team sits in fifth place with 159 points. The 200-yd freestyle was the highlight event of the day for the UMaine women, with the group of Emily Borger, Emma Blair, Sabrina Nuttall, and Juliana McDonald taking the runner-up position in the 200-yd freestyle with a time of 1:33.68. The relay earned Maine 34 points on the day.
The Black Bears had three participants qualify for the 50 freestyle 'A' final, with Borger (23.76) taking fifth, McDonald (23.82) placing sixth and Blair (23.85) finishing seventh. Kate Pontius and Sabrina Nuttall also competed in the event, with Pontius (24.66) hitting the touchpad in 16th place in the 'B' final, while Nuttall took 18th (24.57), participating in the 'C' final.
In the 500-yd freestyle, Shayla Rose Kleisinger (5:04.66) led Maine with a first place finish in the 'B' Final and a ninth overall finish in the field of 24 to give the Black Bears nine points. Emily Lund (5:09.87) placed 15th overall, while Gabrielle Murphy (5:09.44) earned 19th, and Megan McGillivray (5:12.32) took 21st.
Event 10 brought the 200-yd individual medley, with Lynsie Russell recording a time of 2:08.56 to give Maine 11 points. Caroline Strolic (2:09.34) took 12th in the event, while Ines Khiyara (2:10.27) placed 19th.
New Hampshire leads all teams with 342 points, while UMBC has 269 points. Vermont sits in third with 267 points, and Binghamton totaled 190 points for fourth. The Virginia Military Institute rounds out the teams with 78 points.
