Maine Swimming and Diving Set for America East Championships

ORONO, Maine – Following a successful regular season, the UMaine swimming and diving teams will begin the postseason with a trip to the America East Championships at Worcester Polytechnic Institute from Feb. 15-18.
For the first time since 2012-2013, the America East will sponsor men's swimming as a championship sport, with the Black Bears competing against Binghamton, UMBC, and associate member VMI for the conference championship.
The Black Bear women will swim against Binghamton, New Hampshire, Vermont, VMI, Stony Brook and UMBC during the four days at the WPI Sports and Recreation Center. Last season, the women's swimming and diving placed fourth at the America East Championships, earning 396.5 points.
Maine wrapped up the regular season on Jan. 27 at Providence, with the Maine women defeating the Friars by a score of 161.5 to 133.5, while the men fell to Providence by a score of 177-111.
Thursday's action kicks off with prelim action at 4:30 p.m., with the finals starting at 6:00 p.m.
