Women’s Swimming Opens Day One of America East Championships

WORCESTER, Mass. – The UMaine women's swimming and diving team began the postseason today, earning 58 points for fifth place after day one of the America East Championships.
The first day of competition featured the women's 1-meter dive, along with the 800-yd freestyle relay, the 200-yd medley relay.
The Black Bears took home fourth place in the 800-yd freestyle relay, with the squad of Shayla Rose Kleisinger, Juliana McDonald, Emily Lund, Ines Khiyara finished with a time of 7:37.66 to earn Maine 30 points.
In the 200-yd relay, Maine took fifth place, with Emma Blair, Sabrina Nuttall, Victoria Kingston, and Emily Borger registering a time of 1:45.41.
New Hampshire leads after day one with 121 points, while Vermont sits in second with 109 points. UMBC earned 87 points for third place, while Binghamton follows with 71 points. The Virginia Miltiary Institute wraps up the women's scores with 30 points after the first day of competition
