BOSTON-- Four members of the Maine Men's and Women's Cross Country teams were named to the 2018 America East All-Academic Team on Thursday.
This year's group continues to display the academic and athletic excellence shown by Black Bear Student-Athletes, as the four were selected as a group of 22 runners across the conference.
Faith Gardner, from Walpole, NH, is a senior athletic training major who earned a 3.84 GPA. Sophomore
Emma Jourdain, from Becket, Mass., earned a 4.00 GPA in Marine Science. The final representative for the women's cross country team is
Sierra Yost, a junior with a 3.95 GPA in chemical engineering.
Representing the men's cross country team is senior
Daniel Lesko. The Farmington, Maine native earned a 3.95 GPA in bioengineering.
To be eligible for All-Academic, student-athletes must have sophomore athletic eligibility, attain a 3.30 minimum grade-point average and be a contributor on their team. The squad is voted on by a committee made up of America East student-athlete support and athletic communications administrators as well as faculty athletic representatives.
