ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine field hockey team could not deliver a win on senior day at the UMaine Field Hockey Complex, falling to Vermont 3-0. With one game left in the regular season, Maine stands tied in third place with the Catamounts with 13-4, 4-3 America East record. Vermont holds a 8-9, 4-3 America East record entering the final game of the regular season.
Prior to the game, the UMaine athletic department honored

Lydia Gavner,
Emily Hindle,
Ella Mosky,
Libby Riedl and
Samantha Wagg for their contributions on and off the field. The senior six have combined for 343 points, from the 117 goals and 109 assists the class has tallied over the last four years. The seniors complete their home careers at the UMaine Field Hockey Complex with a 24-8 home record.
Pleun Haantjes, Bailey Matthews and Landon Warren all found the back of the net for the Catamounts in the contest. Sierra
Espeland recorded nine saves in the shutout, while
Mia Borley registered five in seventy minutes in the cage.
MAINE GAME NOTES AND HIGHLIGHTS
- Despite not scoring, Maine held a 15-10 advantage in shots and a 9-8 lead in shots on goal.
- Vermont's win snapped a Maine 14-game winning streak over the Catamounts, which started in 2008.
- Maine still holds a 30-10-1 edge in the all-time series over Vermont.
- All of three of Vermont's goals came off the penalty corners. Maine held a 7-6 advantage in the category.
- Crowley and Rield both put two shots on net, while Wagg added another in their final game at home.
